Mayfair Office Space

About the Area

Mayfair is a central London area, which was initially called The May Fair. This specific district used to be more residential in nature, but today, it is mainly commercial, with a good number of the residences having been converted into various offices for different purposes. Some residences have been converted into offices for embassies, real estate businesses, hedge fund businesses and major corporations' headquarters. The rent in this locale is not just among the highest in all of London. It's also among the highest across the whole world. Still, a good amount of residential property is left, and the area features the city's biggest concentration of restaurants and luxury hotels.

About the Area

The name of this area can be traced back to The May Fair, the yearly, two week long festivity that used to occur in what is known as today as Shepherd's Market. The Fair lasted from 1686 until it was outlawed in that location in 1764. The oldest cottage in this area dates back to the 17th century, but it was unfortunately ruined in the Blitz of World War II. Today, you can see a plaque near Shepherd's Market in Stanhope Row. These days, the district is mostly commercial and boasts some of the highest lease rates in all of London and even the world. As a result, it's gone on to become a location of choice for wealth managers and private banks.

Places of Interest

There is quite a bit to see and do in Mayfair. If you're feeling like you could use some exposure to the arts, then head to the Royal Academy of Arts, an art institution that celebrates the visual arts by way of putting on various exhibitions. Another building not to miss while you're here is the Handel House Museum, which was established to celebrate the works of the German-born composer George Frideric Handel. Handel eventually became a citizen of Britain in 1727, after making his home in London as early as 1712. While you're here, you may as well stop by the Marble Arch, the white-marble monument near Hyde Park.

Transport Links

Like all areas within London, the transport links are second to none, which is a testament to the amazing public transit of the city. There are both tube stations and railway stations in this area, which are easily accessible for quick and easy transportation all over the area. You can find London Underground stations in the area: They include Bond Street, Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Oxford Circus and Marble Arch. As for the railway station, you can find transportation at Victoria station.

Mayfair is one of the most important areas inside of the City of Westminster. It is an area that is today a busy commercial district, which stands in contrast to what this area used to be in the past. It had its roots in a more residential nature, but in the present day, it is defined by the spacious offices of many large corporations, embassies and hedge fund businesses within the city.
